Befriending Week 2025
Loneliness affects 1 in 6 people across the world. Befriending brings people together for planned social activities, building meaningful connections and reducing loneliness.
Befriending Week takes place from 1 to 7 November every year. It’s a chance for communities to raise awareness about befriending, celebrate the contributions of befriending volunteers and the staff who support them, and advocate for befriending to local and national decision-makers
This year we celebrated National Befriending Week by creating videos with our befriendees and befrienders that we shared on facebook. It was wonderful to hear how they value the service and how much they benefit from it! We also got great feedback from our facebook followers who loved to see the content.
Below you will see Stephen explain his role as a befriender and what it means to him. You will find the rest of the videos on our facebook page, just click on the link below:
In addition to the videos, we sent out a 2026 calendar to all our befrienders and befriendees with pictures of them throughout the year, celebrating and enjoying each others company. This was a great reminder to all of us of how much we enjoy spending time together and creating memories.
