Off To Neverland…
On Friday, 6th December, a group of 24 befriendees and befrienders took a trip to the King's Theatre, Glasgow. To enjoy their annual pantomime – Peter Pan written by Alan McHugh. Starring Elaine C. Smith (Two Doors Down), Johnny Mac (The Francie and Josie Show) and Darren Brownlie (River City).
The group were transported by coach – safely driven by Russell, from Shawburn Travel, and enjoyed a packed lunch on the journey chatting and singing along to Christmas songs as they made their way into the City Centre.
When we arrived at the Theatre, it was very busy with lots of families and other groups all there to enjoy the matinee performance. The group were ushered to their allocated seats by Justin and Bethany - who were very helpful and patient. The group got comfy in their seats - with snacks at the ready to enjoy the interpretive performance.
The story begins in London, with the young Darling children; Wendy, John and Michael fly off with Peter Pan to ‘Neverland’ (with the help of a little pixie dust - courtesy of Peter Pan’s best friend, Tinkerbell) to avoid growing up! On their adventure, they meet characters such as; Captain Hook, Smee and his maw (Mrs Smee) as well as an impressive mechanical crocodile - who gave Captain Hook his name!
With hilarious adlibs, impressive tongue twisters, high-flying antics, and of course the ‘Weegie’ humour it made for a very enjoyable escape from reality for a few hours - which everyone thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated!
‘I feel in the Christmas spirit now!’
‘I am so glad decided to come, it was nice to spend some time with others.’
‘My cheeks are sore from laughing!’
With Thanks
